Antigen Test Kits to be used for the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients belong to the category of medical devices. The approval of the National Drug Regulatory Authority is required to import the product whether the private sector or the public sector is involved.
Last October 22, the National Drug Regulatory Authority has granted a license valid for one year to import Antigen to a private company.
Based on the existing legal framework of the country, the National Drug Regulatory Authority has issued clear guidelines regarding the import of medical devices.
According to these guidelines, it will take at least two years to get the license.
Based on NMRA's guidelines for importing medical devices, samples must first be imported using the license for product registration.
The samples should then be evaluated.
After the initial evaluation, kits should be referred to an extensively studied external evaluation committee before undergoing another evaluation.
After successful completion of the process, final approval will be given to import the product.
It is suspected that two lakh antigen test kits have been imported by a private company even though the Ministry of Health had invited bids for purchase.
The fact that the company is a government-friendly company shows that there is some kind of fraud going on here. In my opinion, this is a deliberate deception by the government. I strongly believe that the government itself has made a request for money to the cronies at a time like this when the world is suffering from a very unfortunate fate.
